I’ve moved to a different site/blog that is much more focused on finding and sharing “new music”.  I’ve not kept up with this account, so if you ever checked out this page – you should start following my new blog!

Alder Arts

Every Spring in Tacoma, the students of the University of Puget Sound put on the Alder Arts Walk: a showcase of local art, music, poetry and film.  It’s definitely one of my favorite events at UPS.  The combination of a community event spread among students’ houses all around campus with free drinks, food, great company and beautiful art calls for a lovely day in the sun that transforms into a night of celebration.  This year, a student got a ‘live’ tattoo at my friend Steffen’s house.  The kid volunteered to get a spork tattooed on his arm. Anyway, the arts walk started Saturday at 2pm, and went early into Sunday morning. Here is a video/slideshow I made of what all I gathered from the walk. Enjoy.

Dreamland

I found this gem while I was researching dreams.  Film director Tobias Stretch has plenty of bizarre, dreamlike videos and although they are a little eerie, I still think his work is absolutely breathtaking.

“A CINEMA WHICH IS STUDDED WITH DREAMS, AND WHICH GIVES YOU THE PHYSICAL SENSATION OF PURE LIFE, FINDS ITS TRIUMPH IN THE MOST EXCESSIVE SORT OF HUMOR. A CERTAIN EXCITEMENT OF OBJECTS, FORMS, AND EXPRESSIONS CAN ONLY BE TRANSLATED INTO THE CONVULSIONS AND SURPRISES OF A REALITY THAT SEEMS TO DESTROY ITSELF WITH AN IRONY IN WHICH YOU CAN HEAR A SCREAM FROM THE EXTREMITIES OF THE MIND.” ANTONIN ARTAUD

Aurora

A lot has happened recently in my life.  I just got done with a week off from school – Spring Break – that was filled with adventures.  My most memorable part of the trip was at the Vancouver Aquarium with a grandmother Beluga named Aurora.  Kasey, Brandon, you know what I’m talking about.  Well, I found this new band that I like, and this song seemed fitting for my time with Aurora and friends.

Johnny Flynn & Laura Marling are two incredible artists. They have worked together in the past, but this is my favorite work of theirs.

The Red River & The Wand Shop

This post goes out to my favorite band, The Red River (and The Old Believers – who were recording their new album down in Mexico). So as a lot of my friends know, I am really into The Red River. I first saw them perform in Homer, Alaska over the summer in the Yurt Village. They came down in a van with a big ‘ole crew – The Red River, The Old Believers and Congratulations. Ever since, I have been following this crew on their blog: www.braverecs.com – and on their last tour managed to pull them into my work, Metronome, to put on a show. So here are some photos of a few of Red River’s members at Metronome and a night out at 1022.

I’m still figuring out how to use the slideshow. I don’t know how to exclude photos or order them so you get to see all the photos as I took them. Enjoy.
